Ontario physicians using ClinicAid for their MC EDT submissions | ClinicAid blog
Physicians and medical professionals in Ontario will need to make the switch to the new Medical Claims Electronic Data Transfer (MC EDT) by the end of 2014, according to the new regulation put out by Ontario's Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. The old EDT system will be phased out and the new web-based MC EDT system will become the only way physicians can submit their claims to OHIP.
ClinicAid users can automatically connect to the MC EDT system with their GO Secure account details. A GO Secure username and password can be entered into ClinicAid and submissions, as well as remittance files, will be uploaded and downloaded by the medical billing software. This means that users will no longer need to worry about response files or logging into the GO Secure/MC EDT interface to check that claims have been sent in. Any communications from MC EDT will be received and uploaded directly into the ClinicAid account.
Claims made through ClinicAid will be displayed in the user's account and all responses that we receive from OHIP will update a claim's status to match what we've received from the MC EDT system. Users can distinguish between new claims (those that haven't been sent in for assessment yet), claims requiring action (underpaid, paid at zero, or rejected claims), pending claims (those waiting assessment or provisionally accepted), settled claims (paid in full or manually settled), and more. ClinicAid completely removes the need to check on files to make sure they've been received properly and users can rest assured that files are sent and received automatically with updates to claims displayed directly in the account.
The Ontario Ministry of Health recommends using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to send bills through to their MC EDT system as other browsers have caused issues. For more information on which browsers to use and how to install them, please see the ministry's Info Bulletin. ClinicAid also works best with these two browsers.
